So remember when we stored site data offline in our Chrome app and then removed that and just had the site do it on its own?

Well now we're announcing a crazy hybrid of the two methods!

Basically now our site uses HTTPS (with regular old non-secure HTTP for old browsers) which lets our Chrome app use Chrome's background page feature, and through that we do all sorts of jargon heavy tech gibberish stuff (Service Workers, Background Sync, Application Cache, etc...) to store our site offline from the start and have it run in the background for some future features (most notably notifications).
